Have you ever imagined a place where Vulcans and vampires get along? Where wizards and wookies can be themselves? Welcome to Comic-Con San Diego. What started as a fringe comic book convention for 500 fans has grown into the pop culture event of the year that influences every form of entertainment, now attended by over 140,000 strong.
COMIC-CON EPISODE IV: A FAN'S HOPE- a film by Morgan Spurlock explores this amazing cultural phenomenon by following the lives of five attendees as they descend upon the ultimate geek mecca at San Diego Comic-Con 2010.
One on one interviews with Comic-Con veterans who have turned their passions into professions include Stan Lee, Joss Whedon, Frank Miller, Kevin Smith, Matt Groening, Seth Rogen, Eli Roth and others are shared throughout the film along with up close and up front coverage of all the panels, parades, photos, costumes, crowds and camaraderie that make up one of the largest fan gatherings in the U.S.

Guizot was a dominant figure in French politics prior to the Revolution of 1848, actively opposing as a liberal the reactionary King Charles X before his overthrow in the July Revolution of 1830, then in government service to the "citizen king" Louis Philippe, as the Minister of Education, 1832-1837, ambassador to London, Foreign Minister 1840-1847, and finally Prime Minister of France from September 19, 1847 to February 23, 1848. The Deschutes Public Library Foundation presents the fourth annual A Novel Idea…Read Together program with a book that celebrates the spirit of Oregon through the life of one man who represented all of the characteristics of the earliest Pioneers blended with sheer genius, humor, and grit.
The 2007 selected read is Bowerman and the Men of Oregon by author Kenny Moore. The book describes the life of Bill Bowerman, the University of Oregon’s legendary coach and co-founder of Nike. Author Kenny Moore, a former senior writer for Sports Illustrated and a world-class runner under Bowerman's tutelage, delivers a fully realized portrait of this complicated man.
A Novel Idea kicks off April 16 and will run for four weeks, culminating with author Kenny Moore reading at the Tower Theatre in Bend, Oregon on Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12.
